Gait Disorder

Gait disorder is a descriptive term for gait dysfunction of elderly people. In order to treat Gait Disorder the physician must first identify its cause - neurological, orthopedic, physiological, nutritional, etc. The Movement Disorders Center offers multidisciplinary evaluation and management of patients with gait dysfunction. This service is offered in conjunction with the Geriatric Evaluation Service at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Emphasis is on a multidisciplinary approach: with physical and occupational therapy, and instruction in fall prevention.
